Enrico Carnevali

Enrico holds a B.A. in Law from the University of Bologna with a thesis on the intellectual property legislations of Italy and USA. Before coming to Chicago, Enrico transitioned from a legal background to a humanistic one by moving to Santiago, Chile, where he taught Italian language and culture in private and public institutions. 

Enrico received his M.A. in Italian Literature from Boston College with a dissertation on Tasso’s “Gerusalemme liberata” and was awarded the Sue L. Nguyen Research Travel Prize. At Boston College Enrico was also a Teaching Fellow in Italian and Spanish and was the recipient of the Donald J. White Teaching Excellence Award.

As a graduate student at the University of Chicago, Enrico’s research interests include: the relationship between literature and politics in Dante’s works as well as in Renaissance and Early Modern epic poems; Calvino’s trilogy “Our Ancestors”; Montale’s poetry; and the so-called “Spaghetti” western movies.
