Two-Year Language Option
The Master of Arts Program in the Humanities Two-year Language Option (MAPH TLO) is a great opportunity for those aspiring to apply to competitive PhD programs, or for those who wish to strengthen their language abilities in preparation for the next step in their career. If you are interested in more in-depth study of Romance Languages at the University of Chicago (Catalan, French, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish), we would welcome your application to MAPH TLO.
MAPH TLO students in Romance Languages have the ability to spend up to three summers studying their language of choice, may have the opportunity to study abroad and also have options for independent study. In the second year, MAPH TLO students receive a scholarship that covers 90% of that year's tuition. To receive this scholarship, students must have completed all 9 first-year courses by the start of Autumn Quarter and maintained a 3.5 GPA in those courses.
