A native of Brazil, Ana Maria Lima specializes in Portuguese language and literature with an emphasis on Brazilian culture. Her scholarship includes works on multimedia approaches to language acquisition and pedagogy. She teaches beginners, intermediate and advanced Portuguese language classes at the University of Chicago and coordinates the Portuguese language program. She has been working in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures for 20 years. Ms. Lima is currently working on a project funded by the College and the Consortium for Language Teaching and Learning to develop unscripted, authentic, audio materials with a variety of accompanying activities.
